Wrongly Accused Person

Thank you for taking an interest in sponsoring www.wronglyaccusedperson.org.uk. Before you decide whether you want to or not, I think it's only right that I should explain what funds raised by sponsorship will be used for.

Clearly the site is still in it's infancy however the long term potential will be limited purely by the funds available at any given time. Having said that there are now and always will be ongoing costs involved in maintaining the site alone, most significantly ensuring that it's visibility on the main search engines makes it easy for the people it will help to find.

In the not too distant future I am hoping to secure the interest of solicitors up and down the country in providing advice as to whether or not people's claims of being falsely accused can be upheld legally. Something I am confident of achieving, since they in turn are likely to profit from representing the victims of injustice identified by the site following an onsite query and off-site consultation.

Following the above I would therefore be in a position to give others the benefit of my experience which would obviously involve a degree of travel which I couldn't possibly fund myself. I feel that despite everything myself and my family have been through I have largely been able to emerge from prison the same person I was when I went in, not an easy thing to achieve. Knowing how to be to preserve your inner self and overall how to cope with the frustrations of being imprisoned for a crime you didn't commit would be a benefit to so many, who otherwise would be released with issues making them more likely to commit an offence than they ever were before.

I would also like to spend time with the families of wrongly accused people to give them advice on what they can do to comfort and support the people they care about. What helps and what doesn't, what's allowed and what isn't and above all how they too can cope better with the ordeal they too have to go through.

I was lucky in so far as the support I had from so many people helped me to endure what I went through but others are not so lucky. I think that it's important  if we are not to have crime levels increased as a result of misjustice that everyone affected by it should be given the same opportunity and assistance. While on the subject of support, the costs involved in my family's visits were a burden they should not have had to contend with, 'Assisted Prison Visit Unit' only covers a fraction of the costs involved in many cases. Innocent I'm sure you can see that even in this short time I have considered so much I would like the site to achieve and how much potential there is to help others, but it will only be possible with your help. There will be more to come, it's early days.
